This weekend was kind of a full but fun one- friday night was an open house where I showed some artwork- it was very fun and afterwards we met up with lis, rocky and nat. The night ended later than it should have and we had some thought provoking conversation on socialized healthcare which i know very little about, but pretended I did.
Saturday we went to a party for chuck's sis who is getting married- there were MOUNTAINS of yummy food that her fiance's mom had made. It was so good and I ate too many little dill pickles- they had little sweet pickles too and this reminded me of "sweet pickles"- the book club for kids we all used to belong to when we were little. Nobody at the party had heard of sweet pickles! Now I'm wondering if I'm remembering it right-
We had a good time telling funny stories like we always do with chuck's family- we ended the night at pf changs and then Omi spent the night at our house much to the girl's delight. Sunday was the chimes for brunch/carb overload. This included the mandatory cheese fries with gravy and jalepenos and fried and sauteed crab claws. The sauteed claws come in a soup bowl of butter and garlic that we finished off with warm bread...mmmmm.
sunday afternoon we grabbed some crawfish, which are still a little expensive but worth it. All four Oliver girls like crawfish now which means we have to buy about 15-20 lbs each time. 15 was barely enough last night- chuck and i each could have eaten another couple of lbs each. They came from country corner and they were gooooood!
Mary does a weekly journal in school that we write back and forth to her in and this week she had written the entire thing in cursive- You never know what's going to send you into nostalgia mode with kids, but this was one of those things. She's just getting so freaking big! Make it stop! I feel like I was just in Mrs. Kaufman's class learing cursive!! She was just born for God's sakes!

a. You are right about Sweet Pickles. I didn't belong to the club, but oh how I wanted to.
b. That is about the coolest thing I've ever seen- the journal- and you write back to her in it? What a fantastic idea!
i like the journal- it's really funny though- mary will put stuff in it like "we had a halloween party at our house and it was sortof fun but not really."
Well, your parties are sort of fun, not really. Kind of like mine.
PS: I get unusually excited about leap day too.
Sweet Pickles book were awesome. I don't think I was in da club though
