the water's a risin'!

We had such a fun weekend! Our little city is growing by leaps and bounds and Chuck and I are always suprised to find more stuff to do- like we needed more, but apparently it's there for the taking.

Friday night we had Nat, Aunt Butt and Aunt Rocky over to eat and hang out- I played guitar hero for everyone and the girls put on several complicated and long performances for us.

Saturday we took the girls down to the river to see how high the water was- it is VERY high. So high we could sit on the levee steps and put our toes in. The girls were in awe of it all and we hung out and played for a long time since it was cool outside. There were a lot of people down on the levee and i'm not sure if it's always like that or if they were there to see the water like us. Mr. O claims it's always like that- he's been known to tell a fib or two though.

Before we went to see the river we ate lunch at capital city grill by the shaw center to use Mary's free meal cards she's gotten for making the honor roll at st james- there were lots of guys with laptops hanging around talking to each other very seriously. We then noticed that the Red Stick International Animation Festival was going on. Explained a lot.

That night Old Man Oliver (or Mr. Marbles) and I went to the Cancer Ball with Lis and Rocky. We swung by nat's house first for drinks and witnessed a scary car crash in the garden district.
We ended the night at the happy note and I managed to not drink too much.

Sunday we went back downtown to Earth Day and had a lot of fun that included Funnel Cakes and Zydeco. It rarely gets better than that. They had all of the exhibits set up in the Old State Capital too and the girls really got into learning about it. I learned some things too actually. Outside on the grounds there were lots of different animules for the kids to pet including snakes, millipedes *shudder*, bunnehs, chicks, live crawfish and several different pokey, scaley, evil looking extra large skinks. Heebee Geebees all round.

We headed over to end the day with some Mummy action at the LASM with a lil' Planet-Arium on the side.

I also forgot to add that after church sun morning we ate at Reginelli's on Chimes street, and it was SO good. Try it if you can-

I can't get blogger to upload any pics right now, but the river pics are on flickr over there to the right...
